Description
This world cruising catamaran features a midship cockpit layout and ketch rig for easy short handed sailing.
The main (forward) deckhouse contains a huge galley, settee and nav sation. The after deck house is devoted to a sumptuous owners cabin with king size bed (access from both sides), ample stowage and full size head and shower.
There is a double cabin in each hull forward, these two cabins share a head and shower located amidships.
Engine rooms are located in the hulls adjacent to the cockpit and feature easy access to all engines, tanks, batteries and machinery. A dedicated workshop is located in the starboard hull aft.
The forward most section of each hull is a large storage locker suitable for sailboards, bicycles or other gear. A large aft deck carries the dinghy while underway and provides a place for watersports at anchor.
Performance is exceptional by cruising cat standards. HERON easily makes 14 to 16 knots in a fair breeze and can be pushed into the 20's with little effort. See various performance reports.
Construction
Hulls and decks are all cored glass/epoxy composite. Core type varies throughout for maximum strength and stiffness. Hulls utilize western red cedar core with high strength S-glass/epoxy skins. Decks are Airlight foam/e-glass/epoxy and aircraft grade Baltek core.
